Zachary Breaux

Zachary Breaux (born June 26, 1960 in Port Arthur , Texas , † February 20, 1997 in Miami Beach ) was an American jazz guitarist .

Live and act

Zachary Breaux started playing guitar at the age of nine. After graduating from Lincoln High School, he studied composition at North Texas State University . In 1984 he went to New York , where he played for six years in the band of vibraphonist Roy Ayers . Stylistically, his playing was inspired by George Benson and Wes Montgomery . During his career he also played with Stanley Turrentine , Jack McDuff , Lonnie Liston Smith , Dee Dee Bridgewater and Donald Byrd . In 1996 he signed a recording deal with Zebra Records. He died in February 1997 at the age of 36 while on vacation in the ocean off Miami Beach while trying to save the life of a swimmer when she was swept away in the current.

Breaux was posthumously honored by the Texas Parliament for his contributions to music.
