The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (also called Texas A & M-CC or TAMU-CC ) is a state university in Corpus Christi in the US state of Texas . It is part of the Texas A&M University System . The college was founded in 1947 . There are currently 8,355 students enrolled here. The campus is located on an island that belongs to the university. In addition to the TAMU-CC, there is only one other university in the USA (Texas A&M - Galveston), which has an island.

In the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico studies , the environmental conditions of the Gulf of Mexico are examined in cooperation with the University of Havana .

The Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying and Science is a geodetic institute which, among other things , has developed a monitoring system for the tides .

Sports

The TAMU-CC sports teams are the islanders . The university is a member of the Southland Conference .
