George Roberts (entrepreneur)

George Rosenberg Roberts (born September 14, 1943 in Houston , Texas ) is an American entrepreneur. Roberts is one of the founders of the US financial company KKR . He is a cousin of Henry Kravis . With private assets of around 6.5 billion US dollars (as of February 2020), business magazine Forbes ranks him 317th among the richest people in the world.

Life

Roberts was born in Houston , Texas to a Jewish family. He attended Claremont McKenna College , which he graduated in 1966. Roberts then went to the University of California , Hastings College of the Law, where he graduated in 1969.

Much of his fortune comes from KKR's sell-off of companies. The case of the former US company RJR Nabisco is particularly well known . In the book and film Barbarians at the Gate by Bryan Burrough and John Helyar , Roberts is a main character.

Roberts was married and has three children from that marriage.
