Udenhausen is a district of Grebenstein in the Kassel district in Hesse . With 1150 inhabitants, the village is one of the larger Grebensteiner districts. The total area of around 650 hectares is used 80% for agriculture and 5% for forestry.

Geographical location

The village of Udenhausen is located west of the Reinhardswald around 4 km northeast of the center of the Grebenstein core city between Hombressen in the north-northwest and Mariendorf in the southeast. The Reinbecke rises east of Udenhausen and passes through the village to the north and the Soode flows past about 2 km to the northeast along the border to the community-free Reinhardswald estate ; both are tributaries of the Lempe .

The Udenhausen settlement was mentioned for the first time in 1019 in a document from Emperor Heinrich II .

On 1 October 1970 Udenhausen was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the small town of Grebenstein incorporated .

Cultural monuments

  • In the center of the village are the church from 1736 and 30 listed half-timbered houses, which are among the " cultural monuments of Hesse ".

Natural monuments

  • "Friedenseiche 1870/71" English oak approx. 300 m south of the outskirts. It stands, with 2 other oaks, on a lawn in front of the “Drei-Eichen-Hütte”, a refuge operated by the “Heimatverein Udenhausen”.

Events

The traditional village fair takes place in Udenhausen every year on the last weekend in September.
