The Soode is an approximately 7.2 km long, southeastern and orographically left tributary of the Lempe in the north Hessian district of Kassel ( Germany ).
Course and catchment area
The Soode rises on the southwest edge of the Reinhardswald in the northern part of the urban area of Immenhausen , directly west of the Mariendorfer residential area Ahlberg. Its source is on the western flank of the Ahlberg ( 394.6 m above sea level ) at an altitude of about 342 m .
Initially, the Soode, which runs mainly north-north-west, flows along the western edge of Reinhardswald and the Reinhardswald estate and forms the natural border between this community-free area and the towns of Immenhausen, Grebenstein (with the village of Udenhausen, which is a little southwest of the Soode ) and Hofgeismar . The flowing water flows through the Kaiserteich , for example , where it passes the Kaiserteich forester's house . A little further north-north-west, the stream runs past the Soodehöfen , after which it bends to the west.
Finally , in the village of Hombressen , an eastern district of Hofgeismar , the Soode flows into the Esse tributary Lempe, which comes from the northeast , at around 190 m above sea level .
The catchment area of the Soode covers 10.825 km².
