About this picture

Immenhausen is a town in the district of Kassel, in Hessen ( Germany ).

geography

Geographical location

Immenhausen is located in northern Hesse about twelve kilometers north of downtown Kassel on the southwest slope of the Reinhardswald . The place is traversed in an east-west direction by the Holzkape , an Esse tributary, which comes from the Junkernkopf five kilometers to the northeast (distances as the crow flies ) and which the Spechtenbeck takes below the city center . The Osterbach , a tributary of the Fulda, which runs through the Holzhausen district, rises from this mountain .

Neighboring communities

Immenhausen borders in the east on the community-free estate district Reinhardswald , in the south on the communities Fuldatal and Espenau , and in the west and north on the city of Grebenstein (all in the district of Kassel).

City structure

In addition to the core city, Immenhausen also includes the village districts of Mariendorf (in the northeast) and Holzhausen (in the east).

history

In 1015, Emperor Heinrich II stopped in Immenhausen. In 1019 the nearby Reginhereshuson (Reginhereshusen) was mentioned - now the Reinersen desert, located in the urban area . From 1123 Dudo von Immenhausen is notarized, a follower of the Archbishop of Mainz Adalbert I , who appointed him as administrator of the area at Rusteberg Castle , to which Hofgeismar belonged. The Counts of Northeim installed Dudo as Vogt for the Bursfelde Monastery . Dudo's daughter Richenza married Siegfried IV von Boyneburg and later Heinrich von Asselburg .

In the 15th century the Church of St. George was built on the site of a destroyed Romanesque church. Bartholomaeus Rieseberg preached a sermon here in the 16th century .

There were city fires in the 19th century.

Frequent cases of tuberculosis caused the construction of a hospital in Immenhausen, which opened in 1909. After tuberculosis lost its importance in the middle of the 20th century thanks to effective antibiotics, what is now the Immenhausen Lung Clinic emerged .

From the Second World War until the closure of the plant in 1996, the Süßmuth-Glashütte was an important employer.

Territorial reform

On December 1, 1970 , as part of the regional reform in Hesse, the town of Immenhausen and the previously independent communities of Holzhausen and Mariendorf merged to form the expanded town of Immenhausen.

  • Carnival events have been part of the cultural life in Immenhausen since 1950. The football department of TSV 1889/06 Immenhausen e. V. has been celebrating carnival in the Jahnturnhalle in Immenhausen since 1970. Every year on the last two weekends before Rose Monday, extensive and entertaining meetings are offered in the 350-seat hall. As the third association that carries out carnivals, the carnival group of the Catholic Church (KKK) offers happy and fun in the fool's time. The 100-seat conference room in the rectory of the Catholic Church is the smallest of the three carnival halls. The end of the foolish hustle and bustle is Rose Monday, on which all three carnival clubs invite you to the traditional storming of the town hall in Immenhausen.
