history

The popular epidemic of tuberculosis , which was rampant at the end of the 19th century , gave the impetus to found the Philippstiftung eV. In 1887, a group of committed citizens saw the need for an appropriate treatment and care facility for treating tuberculosis patients in Northern Hesse. After the foundation of the "Philippstift" association in 1905 and the collection of construction capital through donations from citizens, industry and trade, construction of the clinic in Immenhausen began in 1908 . In 1909 the hospital opened with 36 beds.

During the First World War , the clinic served as a reserve hospital . In the Second World War it was used again as a sanctuary for tuberculosis sufferers. With the use of efficient antibiotics in the 1950s, tuberculosis became an easily treatable disease. The house was then restructured into a specialist pneumology clinic.
