Thomas Adomeit

Thomas Adomeit (born March 12, 1970 in Stuttgart ) is a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian and bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oldenburg . After the resignation of Bishop Jan Janssen in November 2017, he was elected as the official representative of the Bishop and Upper Church Council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oldenburg during the vacancy in January 2018 . At a special session on September 29, 2018, the 48th Synod elected him to succeed Janssen.

Life

Adomeit grew up as the son of a pastor in Stuttgart. After graduating from high school and studying theology at the universities of Mainz , Berlin (Humboldt University) and Marburg , Adomeit completed his vicariate in Oldenburg from 1998 to 2000 . After his ordination in 2002, Adomeit was initially responsible for the organization of the regional church convention “More Heaven on Earth” of the Evangelical Lutheran Lutheran Church.
