Johann Friedrich Kramer b. Schulz (born October 30, 1964 in Greifswald ) is a German Protestant clergyman and regional bishop of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany . He took office on September 7, 2019.

Life

Kramer's father was the head of the Wittenberg seminary . After graduating from high school, Friedrich Kramer served as a construction soldier in Prora on Rügen from 1983 to 1985 .

Friedrich Kramer studied Protestant theology at the Humboldt University in Berlin . After the first (1991) and second (1993) Church exam he was in Querfurt as pastor of the Evangelical Church of the Province of Saxony ordained . From 1993 to 1996 he was in charge of the parish in Lodersleben and Gatterstädt, as well as youth work in the Querfurt church district ; From 1997 to 2002 he was together with his wife Sabine Kramer provincial pastor for student pastoral care in Halle (Saale) , from 2002 with full service. Since 2004 he has been teaching as an honorary lecturer in biblical studies at the Evangelical College for Church Music in Halle .

At ESG - Hymns By High and Deep (HUT), he was involved as co-editor and frontman of the recording.

On January 1, 2009 he became director and at the same time director of studies for theology and politics of the Evangelical Academy of Saxony-Anhalt e. V. based in Lutherstadt Wittenberg .

After Ilse Junkermann's term of office as regional bishop of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany (EKM) was not extended, Kramer was selected as one of the successor candidates "with experience in the East". On May 10, 2019, the EKM synod elected him as the new regional bishop in the third ballot. His introduction to the office took place on September 7, 2019 in Magdeburg Cathedral .

He is also chairman of the Church Foundation for Art and Culture in the ecclesiastical province of Saxony .
