The Church Foundation for Art and Culture in the Ecclesiastical Province of Saxony ( KSKK ) is a legally responsible ecclesiastical foundation under public law in Central Germany . It is based in Magdeburg .

history

The "Church Foundation for Art and Culture in the Church Province of Saxony" (KSKK) was founded in 1999. The inventory of around 2300 churches and chapels in the former church province of Saxony - today part of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany - is indispensable in order to understand Christian culture. The “Church Foundation for Art and Culture” has set itself the task of stimulating, advising and financially supporting communities in maintaining and honoring their art. Works of art that were believed to be lost were discovered and saved in Saxony-Anhalt , Thuringia , Saxony and Brandenburg several times .

The KSKK has purchased some electronic data loggers that can be loaned out if questions about the indoor climate in churches arise. She is supported by the Institute for Diagnostics and Conservation in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt (IDK) and the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments and Archeology in Saxony-Anhalt with the reading and regular evaluations .

In 2018, the foundation took part in the first European Restoration Day .

As part of the 20th anniversary, there was a festive service on March 24, 2019 with State Bishop Ilse Junkermann in Magdeburg Cathedral and on October 16, 2019 a conference of the "Art and Cultural Property Foundation" together with the Historical Commission for Saxony-Anhalt at the university Hall . The conference was under the patronage of Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff . The theme was pictures, epitaphs (monuments) and tombs for children in Central German churches from the 16th to the 18th century.

The board of trustees and the board of directors work on a voluntary basis and are supported by an assistant to the board of directors in the Magdeburg office .

Under the title “Art throughout the country”, the KSKK publishes brochures at regular intervals with some of the projects that can be restored and preserved with the help of the foundation.
