Holger Reinhardt (* 1960 in Dessau ) is a German restorer and monument conservator . Since 2009 he has been the state curator of Thuringia .

Life

He grew up in Dessau, first trained as a stonemason and then qualified as a qualified restorer . In 1992 he became an employee of the then Thuringian State Office for Monument Preservation . There he initially worked as a speaker and from 2001 as head of the cross-sectional tasks department .

In May 2009 he became - initially provisional - State Curator of Thuringia after his predecessor Stefan Winghart had become State Curator of Lower Saxony and President of the State Office for Monument Preservation there. In March 2010, Reinhardt's appointment was confirmed by the minister responsible at the time, Christoph Matschie .

In his work he is particularly committed to the preservation of the numerous castles and mansions in Thuringia. In November 2014, his office listed 16 castles and mansions at risk. In 2016 a status report was published on now 64 endangered castle complexes, 20 of which are even in acute danger. In 2019 there was another report presented jointly with Minister of State for Culture Benjamin-Immanuel Hoff , in which it was found that the number of castles at risk had fallen to 56. Dreysa Castle , the Günzerode manor house had been demolished and struck from the list of monuments, the condition of 24 objects had deteriorated since 2015. On the other hand, five properties have been sustainably renovated and security measures have been implemented for 17 properties.

Another focus of his activity is the preservation of monuments in industrial and modern buildings . Particular attention was paid to the public. a. the protection of the former railway halls in Erfurt , and an ongoing investigation into the monumental worthiness of garden city settlements such as Heinrichsgrün near Gera, a factory settlement planned by Theodor Fischer in Bad Langensalza and three settlements in Pößneck that were created under the influence of Heinrich Tessenow . In addition, there is professional support for the renovation of early modern buildings such as the former Total-Werke Foerstner & Co. in Apolda , which was co-designed by Egon Eiermann and which has been listed since 1991 , the former dairy farm in Arnstadt and other buildings from the Bauhaus and GDR times, the have had an impact beyond Thuringia's borders.

Despite the successes, Reinhardt expected in 2019 that Thuringia will lose around 100 monuments per year, whereby he complained that z. For example, in the event of the loss of monuments such as the Rathsfeld hunting lodge , the Meilitz manor house or the Walldorf castle, the districts evidently gave priority to the (supposed) economic interests of the owners.

Quote

“It's not always about repairing something. It is crucial to do simple, normal building maintenance, which is what every normal home owner does. (...) We also have to endeavor to use it. Wherever something is used, attention is paid to it. (...) Mixed uses are mostly successful. "
