Martin Heimbucher

Martin Heimbucher (born October 27, 1955 in Regensburg ) is a German Reformed theologian and has been Church President of the Evangelical Reformed Church since 2013 .

Live and act

After finishing high school at the Friedrichsgymnasium (Kassel), Heimbucher studied Protestant theology in Göttingen and Mainz from 1975 to 1982 . From 1985 to 1990 he was vicar and parish vicar of the Lippe regional church . After completing his doctorate at the University of Göttingen with a thesis on Dietrich Bonhoeffer , he was parish pastor in Asemissen - Bechterdissen in Leopoldshöhe (Lippe district) and training officer of the Lippe regional church from 1991 to 1999 .

From 2000 to 2006 he was pastor of the Evangelical Reformed Congregation in Eddigehausen near Göttingen and since 2007 theological consultant of the Union of Evangelical Churches in the church office of the Evangelical Church in Germany . The Synod of the Evangelical Reformed Church (regional church) elected him on June 21, 2013 as the successor to Jann Schmidt as church president.

Martin Heimbucher is married and has two children.
