Petra Bosse-Huber born Petra Bosse (born May 1, 1959 in Velbert , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German Protestant theologian, Vice President and Bishop of the EKD Church Office in Hanover . There she heads the main department “Ecumenism and work abroad”. In addition, she is part-time head of the office of the Union of Evangelical Churches in the Church Office of the EKD.

Live and act

After her studies and exams in theology and German at the University of Göttingen , Petra Bosse-Huber was vicar and pastor in the auxiliary service in Düsseldorf-Kaiserswerth from 1986 to 1989 . From 1989 to 2001 she was pastor of the Evangelical Church Community Elberfeld- West in Wuppertal .

In 2001 Ms. Bosse-Huber became a member of the church leadership of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland (EKiR) as senior church councilor , and in 2003 she was elected vice-president of the EKiR. From 2009 to 2013 she headed the newly formed department “Theology and Diakonia” at the regional church office in Düsseldorf .

In addition to her regional church, Petra Bosse-Huber is a member of the Chamber for Theology of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD). Since 2004 she has been on the commission for the dialogue with the Russian Orthodox Church and since 2007 in the joint committee “Church and Judaism” of EKD, United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Germany (VELKD) and Union of Evangelical Churches (UEK). Since 2011 she has been a member of the Presidium of the German Evangelical Church Congress (DEKT) and since 2012 a member of the Diakonie and Development Conference.

In addition, she has participated in non-church committees, from 2011 onwards in the WDR Broadcasting Council.

She stood twice for election to the presidency of the Rhenish regional church, but was defeated by Nikolaus Schneider in January 2003 and Manfred Rekowski in January 2013 .

In March 2013 she was appointed to the position of international bishop of the EKD and the new head of the main department “Ecumenism and work abroad” in the EKD church office in Hanover . As the successor to retiring Martin Schindehütte , she was introduced to her office on December 5, 2013 in the Herrenhausen Church in Hanover, which she assumed on January 1, 2014. Through the office of bishop abroad, she is a member of the central committee of the World Council of Churches.

Petra Bosse-Huber has been married to the graduate physicist Wolfgang Huber since 1987 and is the mother of three daughters. In her free time she devotes herself to the garden, literature, theater and jazz.
