Geographical location

Ahnatal lies north of the Hohen Habichtswald or on the northern edge of the Habichtswald Nature Park . The community is located northwest of Kassel or west of Vellmar and is traversed by the ancestor . Ahnatal is framed by several mountains. The Hohe Dörnberg rises in the west, the Stahlberg in the north and the Firnskuppe in the south .

Ahnatal has three stops on the Volkmarsen – Vellmar-Obervellmar railway line : Ahnatal-Weimar , Ahnatal-Heckershausen and Ahnatal Casselbreite . Trains of the RegioTram Kassel operate .
