Reinersen is a deserted village near Mariendorf , the northernmost district of Immenhausen in the northern Hessian district of Kassel .

Geographical location

The Reinersen desert is located on the western edge of the Reinhardswald and immediately west of the western border of the Reinhardswald estate , in the Immenhausen district about 1.5 km southeast of the center of Mariendorf and 500 m south of the Ahlberg area that belongs to Mariendorf. It is located on the edge of the forest on the southwest slope of the Ahlberg ( 394.6  m above sea  level ) at about 315  m above sea level. NHN ; it is also mentioned a point about 400 m further south from only 291  m altitude. A nameless stream runs around 150 m south-east of the former village and feeds the upper reaches of the Holzkape at the Bennhauser pond , located around 600 m south of the desert .

The former village can be reached after about 300 m on the dirt road that runs south-east from the bend "Töpferweg" / "Am Ahlberg" to the south of the village of Ahlberg.

history

The former village is first mentioned in 1019 as Reginhereshuson or Reginhereshusen , and at the beginning of the 12th century the Helmarshausen monastery owned a farm there with six hooves of land. Presumably there was also a church on a hill in the former village area. The spelling of the place name appears in different variations over the centuries: Rechinhereshusun (1020), Reinhardessun (early 12th century), Reynhersen (1364), Reinharssen (1440), Rennerssen (1489), Reinersen (1506), Reinhertzen (16. Century) and Reinhardsen (1840 to 1861) as well as Reynhersesen .

In 1440 the former village is described as desolate for the first time when a citizen from the nearby Hofgeismar received a fief from the Hessian Landgrave Ludwig I with 18 hooves "to Reinharssen and Hildensheim in the field and the Feltmargke to Ymmenhusen" . In 1455 the Salbuch von Grebenstein also says: "This is now a wustung called Reinhardessenn." In 1489 and 1506 the place is also called a desert. The fact that the village, as can be read on the sign erected on site, was "inhabited with a short interruption until 1572" is probably due to a misinterpretation of its feudal history . 1489 was 1/4 of the village as landgräflich-Hessian fief of Henry of Rutwerssen. From 1506 to 1572 it was the Hessian fief of those from Retzenberg , and from 1579 to 1824, still desolate, a quarter of the Hessian fief of those of the Malsburg .

The geographical location of the former village could be roughly determined through ceramic fragments, remains of mortar and burnt clay , which was used to build half-timbered houses. The village had clay deposits and sufficient wood and water, which were used to make pottery . A wide variety of consumer goods were still produced here until the 16th century: kitchenware, drinking and storage vessels, tiles and toys. Pottery was still being made on the nearby Ahlberg until the beginning of the 20th century, as can be seen in a former clay pit .

It is unlikely that the village was supposed to have given its name to the Reinhardswald and so far without any evidence. It is more plausible that the village and the forest were named after a person named Reginher.
