The Holzkape (not to be confused with the Holzape ; also called Steinruthe in the lower reaches ) is a 9.1 km long, eastern and orographically right tributary of the Esse in the north Hessian district of Kassel ( Germany ).
course
The Holzkape rises in the southwest part of the Reinhardswald . Its source is around 1.5 km south-southwest of the Junkernkopf (approx. 453 m above sea level ) or around 900 m northeast of the Rothbalzer Teich at around 355 m above sea level. About 1 km east of the origin is the hiking car park "Roter Stock" ( 380 m ), located on Landesstraße 3232 leading north from nearby Holzhausen into the Reinhardswald , from which you can get to the Holzkapequelle via the forest paths "Kuhtrift" or "Paulsweg" .
A few hundred meters after its origin, the Holzkape takes on several short, probably nameless streams, the sources of which are also in the Reinhardswald at a maximum height of around 420 m . In the high areas of this headwaters there are two small still waters far away from the brook .
Below the Rothbalzer pond (approx. 302 m ), where the Holzkape flows past at its brook kilometers 7.9 and 7.6 to the north, it runs between the brook kilometers 6.9 and 6.6 north around the Bennhäuser pond (approx. 282 m ) around; both ponds are fed by ditches that branch off from it.
After leaving the Reinhardswald, the Holzkape flows predominantly westward through the hilly landscape in front of this large forest area , an extensive, woodless and agriculturally heavily used area north of Kassel . The stream runs through the core town of Immenhausen , which is the only village along its course and where it passes a football field, then a football field and then between the stream kilometers 4.1 and 3.85 the Kampteich (approx. 231 m ). After that, the Holzkape flows far north on the former " Glassworks Immenhausen" by, from a building into a " glass museum was converted Immenhausen". When passing a sewage treatment plant , for example , it leaves the city, after which it also bears the name Steinruthe and is bridged three times in quick succession by the Kassel – Warburg railway line . It runs past Gutshof Klingenhof at brook kilometer 1.85 , after which its longest tributary joins the Spechtenbeck from the northeast or Mariendorf .
The Holzkape then flows a little further west to flow into the Diemel tributary Esse , which comes from the south , about 2 km southeast of Grebenstein at about 192 m altitude . The north-western part of the Rothenberg near Burguffeln nature reserve (NSG no. 82452) with three small ponds, which was designated in 1983 and is 27 hectares in size, lies below the mouth of the Essebach kilometer 21.5 .
Worth seeing and cultural
Among the attractions at or near the Holzkape include numerous medieval buildings of Immenhausen . It is well worth a visit to the " Glass Museum Immenhausen" in the until 1996 operated " Glassworks Immenhausen". On the edge of the Reinhardswald , which is well worth a visit, with Sababurg , Sababurg Zoo and Sababurg Primeval Forest , between Rothbalzer Teich and Bennhäuser Teich there is a scout home with the Federal Center for the Association of Scouts and Scouts (BdP).
Catchment area and tributaries
The largest tributary of the Holzkape, whose catchment area covers 24.972 km², is the Spechtenbeck (4 km long), which flows from Mariendorf or northeast, below the remote Klingenhof, about at the Holzkapebach kilometer 1.7, and whose catchment area is 6.507 km².
