Max Beesley

Maxton Gig Beesley junior (born April 16, 1971 in Manchester ) is a British actor and musician .

Life

Beesley was born in 1971 to Maxton Beesley Sr., a professional musician, and jazz singer Chris Marlowe. His parents divorced when Beesley was a baby. His middle name "Gig" goes back to the US actor Gig Young . Beesley made his debut on the television series Last of the Summer Wine in 1983 .

Music career

Before his acting career, Beesley was already active as a musician. He plays percussion, drums and piano and attended Chetham's School of Music in Manchester at the age of 11 . At 17 he moved to the renowned Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London , where he studied drums, piano and composition.

After a short time he was poached by Paul Weller ( The Style Council ). Beesley toured with Paul Weller Movement as a percussionist and keyboardist. Beesley was a tour percussionist with Take That . He also toured with Brand New Heavies and Jamiroquai . Beesley was a member of the jazz band Incognito , with whom he toured for eight months, and was a special guest at James Brown's performance at the Roundhouse in London. He accompanied Brown on the piano.

Beesley was a studio musician on recordings, including albums by George Benson , Earth, Wind & Fire , Chaka Khan , Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder . He wrote music for Mica Paris , Omar , Anna Caram , George Benson, Mel B. and Robbie Williams . The latter offered him in 2002 to support him on his 2003 tour as a percussionist. Beesley accompanied Williams in the middle part of the show on two pieces on the piano. The highlight of the tour were the performances in Knebworth . The three concerts saw around 120,000 people each evening. He was also in the band at Williams' Live8 concert in London. In 2006 he was seen at the opening of Williams' Australia Tour 2006. There he replaced the drummer in the middle section of the song Rudebox during the concert in Perth . In 2006 he also supported Williams on percussions and piano at a private concert in London's Abbey Road Studios .

He released various records with his own band Max Beesley's High Vibes in the early 1990s. Here he could be heard on the vibraphone, among other things .

Acting career

His musician career took a turn when Beesley saw the movie Like a Wild Bull starring Robert De Niro at the age of 23 . He was so impressed by de Niro's portrayal that he decided to become an actor. He went to New York to study acting at the Actors Studio . In 1997 he got the lead role in the BBC multi-part series The History Of Tom Jones, A Foundling . He was then seen in the films The Match and Five Seconds To Spare . In 2001, he starred in the comedy Die Later, Liebling , a bank robber who takes a suicidal employee ( Selma Blair ) hostage. He played other leading roles in the thrillers Hotel and The Last Minute from the same year. Also in 2001 he took on the male lead in the music film Glitter - Shine of a Star by Vondie Curtis-Hall , in which he played the role of DJ Julian Dice at the side of singer Mariah Carey . The film was a failure; Beesley was in 2002 nominated for a Golden Raspberry as Schlechinger Tester Supporting Actor .

In 2003 his films Red Roses And Petrol and The Emperor's Wife hit theaters. The following year he shot the short film The Porter for Mercedes-Benz with Danii Minogue and Bryan Ferry . That year, Beesley took on a larger role in Her Name Is Carla . Together with another member of the Robbie Williams Band, Jeremy Milligan , he composed the score for the film, which was awarded the title of Best Score at the Rome Film Festival.

From 2006 he could be seen as a leading actor in the television series Bloodlines (alongside Emma Pierson ), The Last Enemy (with Robert Carlyle ) and the award-winning series Bodies . The latter was also a popular success. Beesley also attracted public attention in the role of Charlie Edwards in Hotel Babylon . There he worked in seasons 1 and 2. After leaving during season 3, he came back again during season 4 for two guest appearances. Beesley starred as Tom Price on the BBC series Survivors from 2006 to 2009 and starred in the 2011 miniseries Mad Dogs . Beesley also works as a spokesperson for commercials and television shows.
