George Santana
George Santana is a retired South African racing car driver .
Racing career
George Santana, who was active in South African touring car racing for many years , became internationally known for his participation in the 1000 km race in Kyalami . The endurance race on the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit was also part of the sports car world championship several times . As a partner of Hennie van der Linde in the Datsun 1200 GX , he finished the 1000 km race in 1975 in fourth place overall. His best placement in Kyalami was second overall in 1978 . In the race , which was part of the 1984 World Sports Car Championship , he finished third in the overall standings behind the two Lancia teams Riccardo Patrese / Alessandro Nannini and Bob Wollek / Paolo Barilla , with van der Linde and Errol Shearsby as partners in the Nissan Skyline .
