George Stafford (musician)
George Stafford (* 1898 in Ozark Plateau , † 1936 in New York City ) was an American jazz - drummer of the 1920s and 1930s.
Stafford first played with Sam Wooding in Atlantic City in the 1910s; he then worked in New York in bands with his sister Mary Stafford , with whom he did not record, and with Madison Reid . In the 1920s he was a member of Charlie Johnson's band , with whom he recorded some records in 1925-29. He also played with Mezz Mezzrow , Eddie Condon , Jabbo Smith , Red Allen , Frankie Newton , Rex Stewart and Jack Teagarden .
