Georges-Victor Bridel

Georges-Victor Bridel (born September 26, 1818 in Vevey , † June 25, 1889 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss publisher .

Bridel founded a printing company in 1857, which became an important publishing house in western Switzerland . He published around 500 books and brochures as well as newspapers and magazines ( La Famille , Revue Suisse , Journal de la Société vaudoise d'utilité publique , Mémoires et documents publiés par la Société d'histoire de la Suisse romande and others). Bridel was a member of philanthropic associations that emerged from the awakening movement and published works that were particularly close to religion, moralizing folk literature ( Urbain Olivier and others), school books and historical works.
