Georges Bousquet

Georges Bousquet (born March 12, 1818 in Perpignan , † June 15, 1854 in Saint-Cloud ) was a French composer , conductor and music critic .

Bousquet studied at the Conservatoire de Paris and received the Premier Grand Prix de Rome in 1838 . From 1847 he was Kapellmeister at the Paris Opera from 1849 to 1851 at the Théâtre-Italien . He was a member of the Conservatoire's examination board and worked as a music critic for the magazines L'Illustration , Le Commerce and Gazette musicale de Paris .

Bousquet composed three operas: L'Hôtesse de Lyon (first performed at the Conservatoire de Paris in 1844), Le Mousquetaire (first performed at the Opéra-Comique in 1844) and Tabarin (first performed at the Théâtre-Lyrique in 1852). He also wrote chamber music, some church music works and a cantata.
