Georges Guiraud

Georges Guiraud (born March 8, 1868 in Toulouse , † March 11, 1928 ibid) was a French composer , organist and music teacher.

The son of the organist Omer Guiraud studied first at the École Niedermeyer , then at the Conservatoire de Paris , where César Franck , Charles-Marie Widor and Jules Massenet were among his teachers. He then worked as the conductor for singing at the Concerts Colonne and organist in Paris.

After the death of his father in 1912, he returned to Toulouse and took over his position as organist at the Basilica of St-Sernin as well as his teaching post at the city's conservatory. Guiraud composed mainly church music, including organ and choral works.
