Georges Lubin

Georges Lubin (born January 24, 1904 in Ardentes , Département Indre ; † February 13, 2000 ) was a French writer, private scholar, Romance scholar and literary historian.

life and work

Lubin grew up near Nohant-Vic and the castle of George Sand . After graduating from high school, he was first a high school teacher and then a banker in Paris until his retirement (1964). In his spare time he worked as a writer and homme de lettres and published seven novels and short stories between 1926 and 1954 ( Le vert paradis. La terre a soif. Changer de peau. L'inconnue d'Angoulême. Une jolie attelée. Maxime Rasquin. Le Rastreador ).

After the Second World War he decided to publish a complete edition of the correspondence of George Sand . This became the great work of his life in 26 volumes (Paris: Les Classiques Garnier 1964-1987-1995), which earned him numerous prizes and honors, as well as a commemorative publication.

Lubin was a Knight of the Legion of Honor .
