Georges Rabol

Georges Rabol (* 1938 in Paris ; † July 21, 2006 ) was a French pianist and composer who was active in both classical music and jazz .

Live and act

Rabol, whose father comes from Martinique , initially received music lessons from Jean Courbin and Lazare Lévy. He studied piano, harmony and counterpoint at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris . He then accompanied Frédéric Lodéon , Mischa Maisky , Gheorghe Zamfir and other musicians. Together with the cellist Jean-Charles Capon and the percussionist Philippe Combelle , he founded the Baroque Jazz Trio in 1969 , in which he played the harpsichord . Other fusional albums such as Jazz Training: Pour la danse (1980, with Francis Darizcuren and Roger Fugen ) followed. Then he turned to the work of Louis Moreau Gottschalk and Emmanuel Chabrier , which he made famous again in France, but also recorded works by Astor Piazzolla and George Gershwin . He also composed for theater and film.
