Georgi Atanasov (composer)
Georgi Atanassow , bourgeois Georgi Atanassow Georgiev ( Bulgarian Георги Атанасов ; born May 18, 1882 in Plovdiv ; † November 17, 1931 in Italy ) was a Bulgarian composer and conductor .
Life
Atanasov studied from 1901 to 1903 at the Conservatory in Pesaro, Italy . He is considered a pioneer of Bulgarian opera music and, in addition to six operas and four children's operettas, also created marches, choral songs and other pieces of music. The melody of his works is based on Bulgarian folklore . Atanasov Ridge on the Antarctic Alexander I Island has been named after him since 2017 .
