Georgy Aleksandrov (born March 22 . Jul / 4. April  1908 greg. In Saint Petersburg , † 21st July 1961 in Moscow ) was a Soviet philosopher and politician . He acted as Minister of Culture of the USSR.

Alexandrov graduated from the Moscow Institute of History and Philosophy in 1932 . From 1940 to 1947 he headed the department for agitation and propaganda at the Central Committee of the CPSU , from 1947 to 1954 he was director of the Institute of Philosophy at the Academy of Sciences of the USSR . In 1948 he became a member of the academy. 1954/55 he was Minister of Culture of the USSR . From 1955 to 1961 he worked again at the Institute for Philosophy. He was awarded the State Prize for his contribution to the history of philosophy (Istorija filosofii, 1943) and the history of Western European philosophy (Istorija zapadno-evropejskoj filosofii, 1946).
