Georgi Slawow Karaslawow ( Bulgarian Георги Славов Караславов ; born January 25, 1904 in Debar , † January 26, 1980 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian writer.

Life

Karaslavow was born the son of a farmer. He became involved in the labor movement early on . In 1929/30 he studied agronomy in Prague . In 1931 he published a reportage novel in which he processed his experiences. After the Bulgarian communists came to power in 1944, he took on leadership roles in the cultural and political spheres of Bulgaria. From 1958 he was a member of the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party . In 1961 he became a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences .

His works are assigned to socialist realism . In addition to novels, he also wrote short stories, dramas, children's books and literary studies.

Karaslavov was honored as a Hero of the People's Republic of Bulgaria , as a Hero of Socialist Labor and the Dimitrov Prize.
