The rose variety 'The Alexandra Rose' (syn. 'AUSday', 'Alexandra Rose', 'The Alexander Rose') is an unfilled, coppery, pale pink, frequent flowering shrub rose with a light yellow center that was introduced by David Austin in Great Britain in 1992 . The rose was bred from the white to light pink ' Shropshire Lass ' , which comes from an Alba rose , and the light pink shrub rose 'Heritage' ('AUSblush'). It belongs to the group of the rose family of the English Alba hydrides.
education
The bushy, upright rose variety forms a robust, compact shrub. The rose plant is about 140 cm high and 120 cm wide. The small, simple flowers , consisting of five to eight petals , bloom in abundance throughout the season. The flowers appear singly or in small clusters on delicate shoots. The delicate pink flowers have a lemon-colored center. After blooming, the yellow stamens become visible in the center of the loosely arranged flower. The rose has lush, matt, shiny foliage. 'The Alexandra Rose' is characterized by a light mochus scent.
The remounting 'The Alexandra Rose' is hardy ( USDA climate zone 5b to 10b). It also thrives in partial shade and blooms continuously all season into autumn and is resistant to the well-known rose diseases.
The rose is suitable for planting borders and cottage gardens . The rose variety is shown in numerous rosariums and gardens around the world, including the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the Denver Botanic Garden, the Jardin Botanique de Montreal , the Alnwick Garden and the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden.
Naming
The rose was named after Alexandra Rose Day , the UK's charitable fundraiser since 1912 in June.
