Georgi Nikolajewitsch Gurinow

Georgi Nikolajewitsch Gurinow ( Russian Георгий Николаевич Гуринов ; born August 27, 1939 in Minsk ) is a Russian admiral .

Life

Gurinov attended from 1956 to 1960 the Caspian Red Banner Officers College of the Naval Forces SM Kirov in Baku , which he graduated with "distinction". He began his career as a deputy commander and later as a battery commander in the Strategic Missile Forces . From 1964 to 1971 he served as a combat section commander for missiles and artillery (GA-2) and first officer and from 1971 as a commander on a destroyer . After graduating from the Naval Warfare Academy from 1973 to 1975 , he was employed as Chief of Staff of the 128th Missile Ship Brigade from June 1975 to August 1977. From August 1977 to October 1979 he commanded the 76th destroyer brigade. He then worked until 1982 as Chief of Staff of the 12th Missile Ship Division of the Baltic Fleet . After attending the Voroshilov Military Academy of the General Staff in Moscow , he became Chief of Staff (1984–1986) and then commander of the Kamchatka Flotilla (1986–1989). Gurinow, promoted to Vice Admiral in 1988, served as Chief of Staff of the Black Sea Fleet from 1989 to 1992 . After working as Deputy Commander in Chief of the Russian Naval Fleet from August 1992 to April 1993, after he had been promoted to Admiral on April 20, 1993, he took over command of the Pacific Fleet from April 1993 to May 1994. He then worked from 1995 to 1998 at the High Command of the Fleet and as Senior Admiral Inspector at the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
