Georgi Wassiljewitsch Afanassjew

Georgi Vasilyevich Afanasyev ( Russian Георгий Васильевич Афанасьев , Belarusian Георгій Васільевіч Афанасьеў / Heorhiy Vasilyevich Afanasjeu * 24. December 1909 in Moscow ; † 26. March 1971 ) was a Soviet- Belarusian chess composer .

Afanassiev's first study was published in 1927 in the Russian chess magazine 64 . He published more than 120 compositions, almost all of them studies, about half of them starting in 1965 as joint works with his student Yevgeny Ivanovich Dwisow . 25 of his studies received awards. His studies have made it into the prize ranks in team tournaments several times. His two favorite subjects were ignoring a double attack and being unleashed .

Private

Afanassjew was a construction technician. From 1952 he lived in Shodsina in the Minsk Oblast , but according to Dwisow he worked in the Red Army from the outbreak of war until 1957 .
