Ger van Roon
Gerrit van Roon (born September 8, 1933 in Rotterdam , † December 27, 2014 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch historian .
Van Roon studied history in Amsterdam from 1957 to 1961. In 1967 he received his doctorate from the Free University of Amsterdam with the thesis “Reorganization in the Resistance. The Kreisau Circle within the German Resistance Movement ” . His doctoral thesis was "the first major scientific study" on the Kreisau Circle. "Van Roon's pioneering work gave the impetus for further research." From 1977 van Roon taught as a professor of modern history at the Free University of Amsterdam. His book Het Duitse verzet tegen Hitler from 1968 was published in 1979 in German as a resistance in the Third Reich: An overview . In 1998 it reached the seventh edition.
