Gerald Halpin
Gerald Alexander Halpin (born December 30, 1899 in Rookwood , † June 9, 1944 in Glebe ) was an Australian track cyclist .
Life
In 1920 Gerald Halpin became Australian champion over the quarter mile. Before the championship, with which he qualified for the Australian Olympic team, Halpin had broken both wrists in a fall, so he went to the race with leather cuffs.
At the rail world championships in Antwerp in 1920 , Halpin took third place in the amateur sprint . Three days later he started at the Olympic Games , also in Antwerp, and finished eighth in the sprint.
Halpin was also considered an excellent pianist.
