Gerald Koehler

Gerald Köhler (born April 5, 1959 in Wuppertal ) is a German theater scholar and research assistant at the Institute for Media Culture and Theater at the University of Cologne as well as the curator of the graphic collection of the theater studies collection at the University of Cologne . Köhler is best known for his research on the director Gustav Rudolf Sellner .

Life

After graduating from high school Adolfinum in Moers in 1977 and working as a contract soldier, Gerald Köhler began studying at the University of Cologne in October 1979. In 1993 he completed his studies with a master's thesis "Gustav Rudolf Sellner and his collaboration with visual artists" . Since 1993 he has been a research assistant at the Theater Studies Collection at the University of Cologne, where he is curator of the Collection of Graphics. In addition to archival activities , his area of ​​responsibility includes the curatorial preparation and support of exhibitions at home and abroad. He has also been teaching at the University of Cologne since 1993, where he received his doctorate in 1999 with his thesis “The Instrumental Theater of Gustav Rudolf Sellner” (1999, published 2002).

In the 2015 summer semester, Köhler achieved above-average results in the subject evaluation. His outstanding commitment to teaching was particularly rated very well.

Gerald Köhler is married and has a son and a daughter.
