Michael Browne (politician)
Michael Sherwin Harris Browne (* in the 20th century in Saint John's ) is an Antigua and Barbuda politician of the Antigua Labor Party . He has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2014 .
Family and education
Browne was born in Saint John's. His mother is from Sea View Farm and his father is from Urlings Village . He spent his childhood with his mother in her home village. He initially received his training at the University of the West Indies in Mona , Jamaica . After graduating there and then discontinuing his education, he completed a postgraduate course at Pace University in New York City . There he was the first student to complete and successfully complete two master’s courses in parallel. He completed another postgraduate course at Columbia University . He is currently doing his PhD at Howard University .
Professional career and political career
After completing his undergraduate studies, Browne first worked as a teacher at the Princess Margaret School in St. John's. During this time he was also on the editorial board of the Antigua Sun . He later worked in the tourism industry. In the 2014 general election, his party nominated him as a candidate in the constituency of All Saints West . He was able to prevail with 54.49% against the incumbent Lorencezo Codrington of the United Progressive Party . He has served as Minister of Education, Science and Technology in the government of Prime Minister Gaston Browne since then.
