Gerard de Vries (born January 13, 1969 in Coevorden ) is a former Dutch football player and current coach.

Career

As a player

De Vries began his football career in the youth of CVV Germanicus Coevorden before moving to HSC Hardenberg . He got his first professional contract there in 1987. In 1990 he moved to FC Ter Apel , before he went to CEC Emmer-Compascumm in 1995 and ended his career between 1998 and 2001 at FC Emmen in the Jupiler League .

As a trainer

Just two years later he became a coach at his former club FC Ter Apel, where he was active until 2007. Alo Weusthof brought the Dutchman to SV Meppen in 2007 . In the district town he works as a goalkeeping coach on a fee basis. But he did not only earn his money by working with the goalkeepers: he also arranged the return of Johan Wigger from the United States . In 2013 he followed Alo Weusthof to Haselünner SV as goalkeeping coach. In 2014 he extended his contract, like Weusthof, for another year.
