Gerardo Ubiría Suarez

Gerardo Ubiría Suárez (born November 24, 1950 in Las Piedras , Uruguay ) is a Uruguayan writer and journalist .

Ubiría Suárez, who lives in Montevideo, worked there as a journalist for Cinco Días and La Hora . From 1991 to 1995 he lived in Salto . There his first literary works were published in the daily newspaper El Pueblo . During this time, his work La torre en guardia was published in 1993 . In addition, Leonardo Garets worked in the "literature workshop" ( Taller Literario ) at the Casa de Nuna cultural institute . His story Motivo con mar was part of the anthology published in 1996 on the occasion of and as a result of the Cuentos de la Costa competition organized by Portones Shopping and Ediciones Trilce . In this competition, whose jury was made up of Jorge Medina Vidal , Hugo Burel and Rafael Courtoisie , he was honored for this very story. In the short story competition of the COFAC and the Ediciones de la Banda Oriental , he also received a mention for Lecturas de verano . The decision-making body there consisted of Walter Ortiz y Ayala , Washington Benavides , Mario Delgado Aparain , Sylvia Lago and Rosario Peyrou .
