Gerd-Rainer Riedel
Gerd-Rainer Riedel (born April 11, 1942 in Zwickau ) is a German geologist and former museum director.
Life
He received his Abitur in 1964 at the Workers and Farmers Faculty in Freiberg , and his degree in geology in 1969 from the Freiberg Mining Academy . The diploma thesis was the result of a mapping in the area of Bayan Chongor in the Mongolian People's Republic . From 1969 to 1980 he worked as an object geologist at VEB Erdöl-Erdgas Stendal . From 1981 to 1989 he was a research assistant at the Natural History Museum in Erfurt , from 1989 as acting head of the natural sciences department and from 1990 to 2007 as director. From 1982 to 2006 he was co-editor of the annual publications of the Natural History Museum in Erfurt and author of numerous geological articles.
