Gerd Krämer (sports journalist)

Gerd Krämer (born November 19, 1920 in Stuttgart ; † November 7, 2010 there ) was a German sports journalist.

Life

Krämer attended the Reform Realgymnasium Stuttgart, where he passed the Abitur . After working and military service as well as being a prisoner of war in the UK, he began his career at Radio Stuttgart, the forerunner of the SDR . It broadcast the hope speech of the then American Foreign Minister James F. Byrnes on September 6, 1946. Before that, in 1945 he had broadcast the first live broadcast of a football match between VfB Stuttgart and Fürth on the radio after the war .

In 1950 he was a radio reporter for the boxing match between Joe Louis and Ezzard Charles . From 1963 he was a presenter at ZDF , where he was one of the first presenters of the program Current Sports Studio and broadcast reports for the Sport-Spiegel . He also reported on the Olympic Games, World and European Championships.
