Gerd Püschel (born October 30, 1957 ) was a soccer goalkeeper in the GDR . In the upper league , the top division of the GDR football association , he played for the company sports community (BSG) Sachsenring in Zwickau .

In 1973, at the age of 16, Püschel was accepted into the Sachsenring Zwickau junior team. He then played for Sachsenring in the junior league. At the same time, he finished his training as a maintenance mechanic. On February 17, 1979, he was used in the league game Sachsenring - Stahl Riesa (4: 2) for the first time in the Zwickau league team for the injured goalkeeper Jürgen Croy . By the end of the 1978/79 season, the 1.78 m tall Püschel had played a total of eleven league games. For the 1979/80 season he was officially nominated as the third goalkeeper behind Jürgen Croy and Lothar Lindl for the league team of the BSG Sachsenring. However, he only had to fill in twice for Croy in the major league this season. Since in the following years neither Croy nor his successor Thomas Alscher failed for a long time and if necessary other goalkeepers were given preference, Püschel was only used again in the league team on May 21, 1983 on the 24th matchday of the 1982/83 season. The game Rot-Weiß Erfurt - Sachsenring (4: 1) was also Püschel's last appearance in the GDR league, in which he had been in the goal of the first team of Sachsenring Zwickau 14 times within four years. After Sachsenring had to relegate from the league at the end of the season, the BSG separated from some reserve players, including Gerd Püschel.

Püschel joined the climber in the GDR league progress Weida , where he was only nominated as the second goalkeeper for the 1983/84 season. Progress rose again after a year in the third-class district league Gera . When the team rose back to the GDR league in 1987, Püschel had already ended his competitive sports career.
