Gerd Sonntag (artist)

Gerd Sonntag (born March 3, 1954 in Weimar ) is a German artist who, in addition to creating paintings and glass works, also published poems.

Life

Gerd Sonntag attended the elementary art school in Jena until 1973 and then began studying at the University of Graphics and Book Art in Leipzig . 1980 to 1982 he was a master student at the Academy of Arts with the sculptor Professor Theo Balden . From 1991 to 1996 Gerd Sonntag was managing director and partner of the Berlin IMKABINETT gallery (also: Galerie Im Kabinett GmbH). He was also deputy chairman of the NEUE KULTUR foundation in Berlin. The artist has been working with glass as a material since the mid-1990s and has exhibited at home and abroad.

In addition to his work as a visual artist, Gerd Sonntag published his own poems for the first time in the 1970s. In 2003 his book NOTWEHR on the language of German art criticism was published.

Gerd Sonntag has a daughter.
