Gerd Weimer

Gerd Weimer (born September 2, 1948 in Tübingen ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Tübingen, Gerd Weimer studied political science, geography and sports at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen . He then worked as a teacher in Reutlingen until 1992 . From 1998 to 2006 he was the first mayor of Tübingen. From 2005 to 2011 he was chairman of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband Baden-Württemberg. From 2011 to 2016 he was the state commissioner for the disabled in Baden-Württemberg. Weimer is married and has two children.

Weimer was elected to the Tübingen municipal council from 1975 to 1991 . From 1984 to 2001 he was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg , in which he was parliamentary manager of the SPD parliamentary group from 1992 to 1998. Weimer has been a member of the Tübingen district council since 1994 .

Gerd Weimer was the representative of the state government for the interests of people with disabilities in Baden-Württemberg (state disability officer).

Weimer is involved in a variety of voluntary work. Among other things, he is chairman of the foundation board of the Baden-Württemberg regional association for prevention and rehabilitation (BWLV), chairman of the supervisory board of the KBZO foundation and chairman of the board of directors of drug aid Tübingen (DHT).
