Gereon Lepper (* 1956 in Ratingen ) is a German sculptor .

In his works he combines archaic laws of nature with technical invention and transfers this to an artistic level that poetically recalls the foundations of the world around us and the ongoing process of transforming energy. With his sculptures he ironically questions the human attempt to control the forces of nature through the “myth of the machine”.

In 1988 Gereon Lepper received the sponsorship award from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia , in 1993 he was awarded the August Seeling sponsorship prize of the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum and in 1999 the Robert Jacobsen prize of the Würth Foundation .
