Gerhard Bahrenberg

Gerhard Bahrenberg (born May 3, 1943 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a German geographer . He is an advocate of quantitative methods in geography, accompanied by a move away from descriptive landscape and regional studies .

Life

Bahrenberg graduated from high school in Dortmund in 1962. From 1962 to 1969 he studied geography, mathematics, philosophy and education at the University of Münster . In 1969 the first state examination for teaching at grammar schools (geography, mathematics) took place in Münster and his doctorate as Dr. rer. nat. From 1969 to 1974 he was a research assistant at the comprehensive university in Duisburg . There he completed his habilitation in 1974 . In 1974 he was appointed professor . From 1975 to 2008 he was a professor at the University of Bremen .
