Gerhard Baumrucker (born March 19, 1929 in Prague , † July 14, 1992 in Munich ) was a German writer of Czech origin.

Life

Baumrucker came to Munich in 1946 at the age of 17. There he attended the humanistic grammar school and the city language school. He then studied Romance languages ​​as well as theater and literature at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . He then settled in Munich as a freelance writer and translator. At the same time, he also repeatedly worked for various radio stations and television companies.

Gerhard Baumrucker died at the age of 63 on July 14, 1992 in Munich, where he found his final resting place.

reception

It is thanks to Baumrucker's commitment as a translator that the Mexican writer Paco Ignacio Taibo II became known in Germany. He translated - also together with his wife - from English, Portuguese, Spanish and Czech.
