Gerhard Beckmann (agricultural scientist)

Gerhard Beckmann (* 1948 in Albaum ; † November 28, 2015 ) was a German agricultural scientist and director of the Westphalia-Lippe Chamber of Agriculture .

Career

Gerhard Beckmann was born in 1948 in Albaum, a district of the former Kirchhundem parish in the Kirchhundem district , and attended the Catholic elementary school there. In 1967 he graduated from high school in Altenhundem (today Lennestadt ). He studied agricultural science at the University of Giessen until 1973 and received his doctorate. In July 1978 he took up a position as a specialist teacher at the agricultural school in Soest . From February 1986 to March 1987 he worked as managing director of the Paderborn regional office of the Westphalia-Lippe Chamber of Agriculture and as head of the Paderborn agricultural school. Then he was appointed head of the teaching and research institute for agriculture Haus Düsse . The general meeting of the Chamber of Agriculture of Westphalia-Lippe elected him director in December 1998, an office he held until the merger of the Chambers of Agriculture of Rhineland and Westphalia-Lippe in January 2004. After this merger, he became chamber director for the higher forest authority and in 2005 took over the management of the forest and wood company, which was founded by the former higher forest authority. On December 31, 2007, Dr. Gerhard Beckmann retires.
