Gerhard Bork

Gerhard Bork (born March 10, 1917 ; † September 22, 2004 ) was a German church musician .

Bork studied Protestant church music and musicology and graduated with a doctorate as Dr. phil off. After completing his training, he initially worked in Krefeld . This was followed by cantor positions at the Luther Church in Cologne-Nippes and the Christ Church in Cologne . Here he worked as church music director for over three decades . In 1957 he founded the choir community in the Stadtkirchenverband (today: Oratorienchor Köln ). Until his retirement in 1980 he taught Protestant church music at the Rheinische Musikschule .

Bork died in 2004 at the age of 87 and was buried in the Kalk cemetery in Cologne-Merheim .
