Gerhard Boyer

Gerhard Boyer (born October 20, 1887 in Wüllen , † April 29, 1963 in Münster ) was a German postal worker and politician. Between November 18, 1948 and October 29, 1951, he held the office of Lord Mayor in Münster.

Life

After graduating from school, Boyer aspired to an upscale career in the Reichspost from 1906 . Between 1927 and 1932 Boyer was a member of the city council, he belonged to the center faction. In 1933 he was one of those parts of the center in Münster that advocated collaboration with the National Socialists . He was one of the signatories of the motion that declared Hitler and Hindenburg honorary citizens of the city of Munster. During the Nazi takeover of power in the first half of 1933, he was promoted to a member of the magistrate, but had to give up this position after the National Socialists changed the municipal constitution.

After the Second World War, Boyen was active in the city parliament from 1945 to 1956. From November 18, 1948 to October 29, 1951, he was elected (honorary) mayor three times for the CDU. As a member of the Committee for the Reconstruction of the City Hall of Münster eV , he contributed significantly to the reconstruction of the historic Münster City Hall .
