Gerhard Canzler

Gerhard Canzler (born October 14, 1929 in Neermoor ; † April 8, 2011 in Norden ) was a German homeland researcher . In several publications he dealt with the regional history of East Frisia .

Canzler studied after graduation in idle at the University of Education in Oldenburg . He then worked as a teacher in Marienhafe and Brookmerland for nine years . From 1959 to 1962 he continued his studies at the universities in Oldenburg and Göttingen and in 1963 became a teacher at the middle school in Norden . Three years later he took over the management of the school and remained its principal until his retirement.

In addition to his school activities, Canzler devoted himself to the East Frisian regional and local history of his hometown north. From 1982 several publications appeared. Finally he received his doctorate in 1996 at the University of Oldenburg with a thesis on the guilds and guilds in East Friesland until 1744.

Gerhard Canzler is the father of the social scientist and mobility researcher Weert Canzler .
