Research priorities
One focus of Donhauser's publication and research activities is on questions of whether and in what way the validity of legal norms can be rationally justified and how this should be thought in relation to political power. In connection with this, he asks himself epistemological and interpretative questions, not least with a view to what exactly the content of a norm is, who decides which interpretation variant can be considered legally binding and which discourse strategies played a role. Another thematic focus for him is the question of the possibilities of freedom and autonomy of the individual. Currently, these possibilities are massively threatened on the one hand by certain forms of discussion about the neurobiological determination of human existence, on the other hand by police-state developments in the context of the so-called fight against terror.
