Gerhard Ester
Gerhard Friedrich Ester , also Gerd Ester (born May 23, 1939 in Padua ; † March 30, 2018 ), was an air painter , restorer and illustrator.
life and work
At the age of 17, Ester began training as a church painter and gilder. He completed his knowledge as an employee of a church painter and an artist as well as a restorer. From 1965 he worked as a freelance painter and restorer. He created interior and exterior frescoes on churches and other buildings and also restored many works of art. Facades designed by Ester can be found e.g. B. at Klepperhaus and Haus Lang in Oberammergau as well as in Partenkirchen at the inn "Zum Rassn".
He lived in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Ester was one of the few painters who still used the traditional fresco technique . He created the illustrations for Andreas M. Bräus book Culinary Stories from Werdenfelser Land .
